Environment Art---- Camp fire with the tree!

 When we arrived the site, we found that their are plenty of natural elements. What can we do in countryside? Of course it must be camp fire! It has beem a common activity scine ancient time. We can do many thing arround the camp fire such as keeping warm, sleeping, eating, dancing, etc. In the past, camp fire is used to keep people's life in safe like expelling animals and resisting the cold in winter. Now, we treat it as some kind of event that usually for entertainment. We don't really care whether it has a meaning of lighting up the camp fire, we are just feeling excitement while gathering around the fire because we seldom see it.

Our work is combining the element of human and the nature. It is explaining the relationship between the two. We, human, are very much relying on the natural environment. This time the focal point should not be only the camp fire and people surrounding it, but also the tree in the centre. The tree is like ready to be fire for poeple's convenience and comfort. People on the earth overuse the natual resources which causes the destriction of the tressure nature.

 

My body sculpture

  I was trying to use card box to replace my head and draw different heads on the four surfaces.  When I was young I always imagined my identity changed as well as my appearance. It is interesting to become someone else. I don't need to have any plastic surgery which is expensive but the use of card box is cheap and it is convenient to draw the face I want instead of operating a dangerous surgery. 

In the class, I have been reminded that using cardbox and paper bag to cover the head has a kind of  criminal meaning. Well, actually I had a thought of hiding myself in a small space because I don't want to let the others know who I am. It seems that the replacement of head by using cardbox is implying the virtual crime on the internet where people can hide their identities in order to do some illegal activities. It's also about the inferiority complex of myself as I don't really like my own appearence. The cardbox usually deliver the negative imaga to people such as cheap, obased, suspicious. It is, i fact, revealing the dark side in my mind. And the drawings on the box reflect what I want to be ---- not a normal one, but an outgoing, unique and good looking person.

Lesson2__another piece of paper sculpture

This time, I ve tried a bigger one. Also, after I saw some interesting paper sculptures made use of the negative and positive effect, I really want to try it so I cut the shadows of flowers and branchs. Besides, I sticked a piece of newspaper on the back so that it would look like a collage.
